The Wirral Viking festival is an immersive, inclusive, family friendly event that celebrates the Norse heritage of the Wirral peninsula.

A little bit about us ...

The Wirral Viking festival is an immersive, inclusive, family friendly event that celebrates the Norse heritage of the Wirral peninsula.

Take the opportunity to learn about the vast historical significance of the Wirral's’ Norse heritage & history, including its concentration of Norse place names, including Thing wall, which in Ancient Norse translates to “Assembly Field” and the significance of Thors’ Stone in Thurstaston.

Using a combination of re-enactments, immersive story telling & educational talks, we will tell the story of the Wirral Vikings who settled here in 902AD as well as offering visitors the opportunity to learn about the Ancient Norse myths and legends told throughout the Ancient Norse world.

We utilise and work closely with local museums, historians, ecologists and archaeologists as part of educational & historical talks, lectures & demonstrations available at our events.

Interactive activities including; live battle re-enactments, immersive theatre, live music, themed craft, activity & food stalls, will make this annual, two-day event a welcome addition to Wirral and Merseyside.

Meet our Reenactors...

Come and meet Regia Anglorum.

This National re-enactment group has been operating for over three decades, re-creating early medieval life for audiences all over the world.

We are very lucky here at The Wirral Viking Festival to have this fantastic group involved with our annual events.

You can find out more about Regia Anglorum on Facebook or at Regia.org
